Abstract

|
In this paper I will probe the possibilities of research into the supply of elderly labor by using the family and the household as analytical tools. I will analyze data on those in their early 60s from the three perspectives of $quot;pension,$quot; $quot;household$quot; and $quot;vocational ability.$quot; Also, I will examine and present a problem to the possibilities of the supply of elderly labor with $quot;the family$quot; as an analytical perspective. The significance of this paper is to do the fundamental and underlying work for building the basic model of the effects of the family and the household on the elderly¢¥s entering behavior into the labor market. The fact that the probability of employment of older persons in the extended family clearly reduces, compared with that of employment of the household of the elderly couple alone, is found by multiple logit analysis. Furthermore, some interpretation can be considered for the results that the extended family discourages employment of the elderly.
